Google は去年末にリリースしていた書籍の内容に対して全文検索を行なえる機能、「Google Print」 を新たに 1サーチエンジンとして独立させ、公開しました。Amazon の 「Search Inside the Book」 と同様、まだ英語の書籍のみが対象ですが、今後の展開に期待が持てます。

一方で、やはり出版社や著作権者との調整はかなり大変だったようです。Google Print の FAQ ページにはさりげなくこんなアピールが。

Google Print は「ネット上で書籍は読めるからわざわざ買う必要ないや」とユーザーの書籍の購買意欲を下げるようなサービスではなく、むしろきっかけを与えることで書籍への関心度の向上や売り上げに貢献しますよってことですね。
