写真共有サービス、Flickr を Yahoo! が買収するのではという噂がちょっと前にありましたが、Yahoo! による買収を Flickr が正式発表したようです。

やっぱり噂は本当だったと、、

Do I have to have a Yahoo ID to use Flickr?... No. In the future, you'll be able to log into Flickr using your Yahoo account, but you can continue logging on as before.

今後は Yahoo! ID でのログインも可能になるとのことですが、Flickr ユーザーは今までどおりのアカウントでサービスを利用できるようです。

「Flickr API の公開は引き続き行うよ」 とも言っています。Yahoo! も最近 Web Services API を公開し始めたりしていますが、ユーザーだけでなく開発者も巻き込む形でのサービス展開と、これら Web サービスの広がりによってどんな新しいサービスが生まれてくるのか、本当に楽しみです。

ついでに言えば Yahoo! が買収することで、Yahoo! Japan による Flickr の日本語サービスなんていうのが始まったらうれしいかも。
